My M lenses: 28 cron, 35 lux asph, 50 lux asph, all use one (46)
filter; the 75 lux uses a (60). Both supplied by Leica at no charge.
Using the filters basically assures you of wonderful color balance.
Sure, I'd like to have a separate filter on each lens (to avoid
changing). Yet, I've not found it a necessity. The combination of
lens coding and cutoff filter definitely significantly improves the
color balance and vignetting (with wide lenses). I'm one of those who
love the Leica's decision to keep the IR filter off the sensor. I
enjoy working with the high IR sensitivity images. I also have a
great appreciation for the micro detail that the M8 achieves. YMMV
