I'm afraid I don't know.  Our lab already had one when I started in 1973.  We
used it so much for copy work in the 1970's and 80's that we bought another 
one
used, for backup, when I saw it in a camera store.  In think the
non-compensators replaced the original in the early seventies when TTL took
over.  All the later, non-comp. versions have rubberized focus rings of 
varying
styles.  Our lab used to do a lot of copy work on slide film for the Art 
History
department, so being able to set the aperture at f/11 and leave it was a big
plus.
