Some carry fine, but they're a pain to reach the equipment, some are nice to use, but a pain to carry... My preferences goes to the reporter bags or similar if you're doing press-like stuff (but not too comfy to carry for a while, like all those shoulders bags as they get some load) or photo backpacks like the ubiquitous lowepro trekkers if you have to carry the stuff a long while with a great accesibility once it's laid on the floor.
