Update: DAG emailed me that the 50 DR lens head will not fit the Rigid Summicron focusing mount. He can cut off the close-focus cam to make the DR work on the M8. That sounds rather, uh, irreversable. Kind of like a vasectomy. :-) Not sure I want to do that. Which makes my interest in a 40mm to 39mm step-down ring even keener. I'd like to try the 50/1.8 Canon, and I'd like to use it with an IR filter. It has a 40mm thread. As I mentioned earlier, a little dental floss around the filter threads of the IR filter would work as a stop-gap measure, but I wouldn't rely on it long-term, especially with a lens hood attached to the filter. --Peter
