Mark,

Bad math. There are almost 28 million square feet in a square mile.  
If the people were evenly spaced out, Phil's 15 New Mexico citizens  
per sq. mile could enjoy a ranchette of 42 acres each. If the people  
stood in the center of their ranchette, there would be 1363 feet  
between them. That's a quarter of a mile. Of course, on Saturday  
night, in the corner bar, it's considerably more crowded.

Next week we calculate how many angels can dance on the point of a pin.
