Thank you for your kind comment.

One of the mostly unknown features of Bakersfield is that there is a
half dozen or so Basque restaurants. The Basque were early settlers
here and at one time were probably the most influential citizens in
town. Noriega's restaurant is next to the old Noriega's hotel. The
buildings feature a pelota court on the roof. Noriega's is one the last
of the restaurants to feature a fixed meal, fixed price lunch and dinner
which is served at trestle tables. Reservations are required and the
price is slightly more than US$10. You have no idea who is going to be
sitting next to you. Bottles of red wine and white wine (unlabeled) are
served with the meal as an all you can drink item and the food is
basically all you can eat. Better be socialized enough to eat intimately
with strangers or you will be very uncomfortable.
