It helps to be a gray-haired grandmother except that I also have
artificial knees so I set off every metal detector in the airport. I
know now to arrive hours ahead of time and prepared to strip. In
Israel, the screener girl had no idea what metal knees meant so I had
to go with her to a separate room and remove all of my clothes so she
could check out my knees. That would have been fine but while I was
gone, somebody took my money belt off of the conveyor belt and took
$1000 out of it. I asked later if they had a video of the area so we
could see who took my money but, of course, they
didn't. Moral: Don't leave your valuables behind when you have to
go and be strip-searched!! I was too nervous to even think about
it. I should have taken photos myself!
