Stopping violence was the focus of Street's comments. He said he would place
a curfew on corner stores as part of his anti-crime effort.

"You have these stores run by the Asians staying up until 2 in the morning,"
he said. "I'm going to shut them down by 9 o'clock... . What business do you
have if you're not selling drugs?"

A man in the crowd yelled, "Wonton soup!"
