I saw the exhibit a few weekends ago.
One can see HCB's zero tolerance for darkroom work being nurtured early on.
4x5 prints actually made by HCB himself and most not fit to be called
"Proofs".
I think he exposed them all at once and developed then all at once in a
large tray. Using candles for safelights. In a tent. Washed then in a tiny
river down the trial.

I think taking apart someone's scrapbook is a crying dirty shame. Should
have been left intact. Just played a video of someone paging though it (with
nice manicure) and shown it on a flat screen on the wall.

Every show I see has a flat screen on the wall with something more
interesting than the prints going on. Like the Louise Brooks and the
Munkacsi on the other sides of the walls. Louise Brooks needs to move. She
was not a still artist. She was a motion picture artist.
Munkacsi talks a mean ballgame. So much for the visual arts. Its always what
you don't think.

HCB; Avedon:
It all started with Munkacsi.

4x5's have a lot more class than 4x6's.
