You're right, Alastair, but I can't do that anymore ;-)  These 
artificial knees bend just fine, it's getting back up with all of 
that camera equipment that's impossible.  I do deep-knee bends at the 
Y but still have to have something to hold onto to get back 
up.  That's my main use for a monopod these days, but I didn't have 
one on this trip.
