As most people know (I think), January 27th is Holocaust Memorial Day. In Amsterdam it is commemorated on the last Sunday of January (the Dutch tend to be practical about timing of commemorations and holidays...). I have attended the past couple of years. The format is to gather at the City Hall and walk from there in silence to the Auschwitz Monument about 1 km away. At the monument, there are a couple of speeches, a prayer and wreath-laying by various organisations and private individuals. Of course, I go primarily in order to participate in the commemoration, but since I have my camera with me anyway, there are some pictures too: http://www.greatpix.eu/gallery/2453301 Nathan -- Nathan Wajsman Almere, The Netherlands Opportunistic Image Acquisition General photography: http://www.nathanfoto.com and http://www.greatpix.eu Picture-A-Week: http://www.fotocycle.dk/paws Seville photography: http://www.fotosevilla.com Stock photography: http://www.alamy.com/search-results.asp?qt=wajsman http://myloupe.com/home/found_photographer.php?photographer=507 Prints for sale: http://www.photodeluge.com Blog: http://www.fotocycle.dk/blog SUPPORT FREEDOM OF SPEECH, BUY DANISH PRODUCTS!
