I know of one local amateur astronomer who has built a camera similar to 
mine in that it uses a big Pentax 67 fisheye.  But he didn't think of 
the old Speed Graphic and its focal plane shutter.  Instead he built a 
box and put a single action Alphax inside with a cable release to the 
outside via a light trap.

He uses it to photograph star trails.
