Now that the World Cup is history for another four years, every
country, except possibly Italy, can get back to their normal humdrum
lives. The final game was one of the most exciting of the series,
spoiled only by Zindane's egregious foul in the final moments of the
mini game. Instead of sulking in the locker room during the awards
ceremony, he could have redeemed himself by ascending to the podium,
accepting his medal, and apologizing to the crowd for his behavior.
Too bad his red card for unsportsmanlike behavior will be the coda to
a brilliant career.

Of course the Tour de France still has a few more days to go but that
only affects the yahoos who line the highways and hurl cups of water
and empty beer cans at the bikers.

I can finally get back to taking pictures of flowers and grandchildren
with my Leica.
