Subject: [Leica] re: curling negs in the nutmeg state

My experience is that curling negs are a result of the temperature and
humidity they experience at drying. Experiment with raising or
lowering the temperature of the room, and separately raising or
lowering humidity.

I have more difficulties with this during the winter. The solution is
simple. Page the negatives and put a little weight on them. They'll
flatten out. I usually keep my negatives and contact sheets in an
archival box. If I want the negs to be flatter, I put them at the
bottom of the box. The weight of the pages negatives and accompanying
contact sheets above does the trick. All you need is patience. When
patience is short, I put them under the glass I make my contacts with.
That does the trick much faster. Be sure all surfaces are clean.

Well, Ken, I'm glad to see you're developing your negatives. You will
get a consistency now that the labs generally can't provide.

Don't you think it's about time we had a meeting of the New Haven
Rollei-Leica Users Club?!
