The Canon 5D accepts replacement screens as standard.  I changed the
standard screen for a Brightscreen with rangefinder and microprism. I've
found it makes focussing a lot easier.

Ed, the Canon 1 series bodies have user-replaceable focusing screens, 
and Canon sells several varieties. I have installed one in my 1DII to 
help focusing with the 100mm Apo Macro.
