Hi Greg,
I vaguely re-call from years ago "looking for lenses with bubbles" because 
they signified a better lens. So the theory was in those days.

I had a 50 mm f1.5 on a Contax III with a bubbles in the glass and I don't 
re-call any kind of variations from them in the negs and prints.

Now on a test bench I suppose given lens standards of today bubbles maybe a 
no-no. But at that time 50's 60's bubbles were supposed to signify part of 
the molten glass cooling process and a positive marques.
