When I say, they were printed well I mean that the photographers who did 
them knew what an excellent photo looks like and got it. The photos weren't 
dark or flat. They were treated to the same standards that one does to bring 
out the best in a silver gelatin photo. Up close, however, they didn't work 
as well.

I use a digital camera, I just bought a scanner. I am not hostile to 
digital, I just don't enjoy it as much.
