As far as I can tell all the metering modes - matrix, partial, spot - still work ok. The screen replacement is very easy. The 5D is designed to have user replicable focussing screens. The Brightscreen comes with a pair of tweezers that allow the original screen to be unclipped then removed and the replacement screen to be fitted. It took me maybe 2 minutes and that included reading the instructions :-) Steve -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+lug=steveunsworth.co.uk@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+lug=steveunsworth.co.uk@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Robert D. But I do have a couple of questions about your new focusing screen: --Does it appear brighter than the standard issue screen? --I think I read somewhere that when you use it, you lose the ability to use one or more of the camera's metering modes.....maybe evaluative or spot, I can't remember.....because it has an effect on the light transmitted through to the meter. True? --How hard was it to replace the standard issue screen with this one? Again, another good shot. --Bob -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition.
