If true, new Leica lens designs most likely would have enough mirror
clearance for full-frame EOS cameras.  Two possible scenarios come to mind
based on this assumption:

1) The R bodies and R-mount lenses are discontinued (think of what happened
to the FD-mount system).  Under this scenario there will be no more new lens
designs for existing R cameras.

2) New Leica lenses will be available in R and EOS mounts, and because of
the EOS mirror clerance spec will be upgradable (I use this word
deliberately) to 3-cam for the Leicaflex SL.
