When it comes to really expensive stuff, Sweden isn't that expensive. If you buy cheap booze, it is expensive, but the tax is about the same for expensive stuff. I almost get the feeling that the tax is a flat rate (per % of good stuff, alcohol), not percentage of price. I'm not sure. Good wine, for instance, isn't tangibly more expensive than good wine in the shops in Germany. Cheap wine is much better priced in Germany, but when you start caring about your taste-buds, the dent in your wallet isn't hit as hard by taxes. I even found that beer (at the bars) was about the same price as in Sweden. Cheaper in the shops, yes, but then again, only cheap beer (brewed with maize). I'm curious myself. I'll check it out for the exact price. I think I figured it somewhere around 70 USD for a bottle ... but for the life of me, I can't remember what size it was.
