There are 2 questions for the technical minds. > > I want to clean the metal tubing but do not know what solvent to use. > > When on the plane I noticed that i could not turn the focusing ring all the way. I unscrewed the glass element mounting from the focusing tube and noticed that one baffle ring was not completely flat inside. I took it out and I could focus fine. Now, I wonder if the baffle I took out was supposed to be there or it was left there by mistake. There is one inside and finely mounted. Does it take 2 baffle rings? There may be some internal differences by year, but generally, the 90/4 Elmar, when the lens head is removed, will have 2 similar push-in light baffles with a number of small ones below that are part of the focusing mount. The outer baffle will have some numbers written on it with pencil. One is the last 3 digits of the serial # so it will match the head. The other is the actual focal length in mm (usually 89-91). Which baffle has the numbers on it? If it is the one you took out, it needs to go back in. If it is the one under that, the one you took out is probably extra. JB
