Not often we get one of these on the canal, although the guano shows that it must have been his perch for quite a time. I've posted 8 shots of the cormorant (well I think it is one),unfortunately the grass and reeds on the canal bank obscured the view a little (very steep, and I'm not going down there with a duff arm, or at least getting back up might be a little difficult) . http://gallery.leica-users.org/New-Old-Pictures/MG_3270_edited_3 Wing Drying (Cormorants are not waterproof) http://gallery.leica-users.org/New-Old-Pictures/MG_3271_edited_2_001 He's noticed I'm there , I sneezed http://gallery.leica-users.org/New-Old-Pictures/MG_3273_edited_2 Preening under his wing http://gallery.leica-users.org/New-Old-Pictures/MG_3269_edited_2 Very elegant pose, wing and tail feathers spread http://gallery.leica-users.org/New-Old-Pictures/MG_3268_edited_2 More or less the same , less wing and more tail http://gallery.leica-users.org/New-Old-Pictures/MG_3265_edited_2 Balancing on one leg http://gallery.leica-users.org/New-Old-Pictures/MG_3264_edited_2 Preening his breast feathers http://gallery.leica-users.org/New-Old-Pictures/MG_3264_edited_2 Alert and watching some are quite similar (apart from being the same bird) Please let me know which ones to crop, throw out, darken , lighten, sharpen or whatever. cheers Douglas Shot with the 20D and a Novoflex 5,6/400 at f5,6 or f8 under the extreme difficulty of having my left arm in plaster from wrist to shoulder, but it makes a good lens support. If this is his daily vantage point I'll go back tomorrow with a tripod and a 600mm too.
