many folks have found it a lot harder than it looks to get a good black 
paint finish -- on any formerly chrome camera

before risking trashing your M4, I urge you in the strongest terms to 
try dechroming and repainting any $10 junk camera.

learn on the worthless junkers, not on your M4 !
