Ken:

Have to admit I'm quite familiar with rock shrimp. A short while back
(geologically about 30 years) a nice gentleman named Walt Johnson introduced
himself and his rock shrimp to me. Walt (we had a lot of fun with our
matching names) owned a fleet of shrimp boats, and later, The Sandpoint Inn.
I don't think the rock shrimp were in great demand then, although I
described them a very "lobster like" in taste. I did a photo layout on
Walt's shrimping for the local paper and some time later a shoot on
Sandpoint Inn Its been so long back I forget many of the details but do
remember getting the gentleman's phone calls occasionally.

Rock shrimp were excellent. I'll bet they still are. Of course, It's been
years since I've made a habit of eating roadkill .Now I'm content with the
best veggies and salad bars in town. The only way my family will agree to
eat out with me is to have my pledge to open my mouth for eating only. I can
no longer liken shrimp to "seagoing cockroaches". When I'm quizzed about
Asian Cuisine I can't help bringing up the story about the dogs and cats
hanging up in a local Chinese freezer. The gracious restaurant owners were
quick to point out it was "for ourselves only". It seems pooches and
pussycats are a delicacy in their part of the world..

Sometimes it's fun to remember these old stories. Thanks for stirring up my
stale old gray matter. BTW, Chili's has a fantastic black-bean burger.
