Yep, me too.  This weekend, in fact.  I managed to save the roll 
though.  I was actually standing in an unlit room when I made the error 
and put the base plate right back on (ok, it wasn't ever fully 
removed).  I was lucky though - somehow I don't imagine my *speedy* 
reflexes would have saved anything in a brighter setting.  That was my 
first time pulling that stunt, and I hope my last.  Maybe I'll remember 
to rewind from now on.
