Not in the digital world. Kodak released their FF dSLR with statement saying
"they have problems". Microsoft releases software with tons of holes. Canon
brought out the D60 which only survived for 6 months because of focus
issues. Nikon introduced the D2h knowing the noise was not up to specs vs
Canon's 4mp 1D.

Companies let the consumer be the R&D now, saves them money.
