I spent most of my time on the Big Island in Hilo and on the top of Mauna Kea (at 14,000 feet) where we run an observatory. These were all taken with my M7 and either the current 50 Elmarit or 35 Summicron ASPH on Kodak Royal Supra 400 or Fuji Superia 400. The scans are commercial, some are cropped and most have had minor level adjustments done. The first three were taken at Kilauea Caldera in Volcano National Park. The caldera is just a big hole in the ground of course, so I backed off and watched the tourists. http://gallery.leica-users.org/HAWAII/06_34A_0264_web An alternate: http://gallery.leica-users.org/HAWAII/06_36A_0266_web And a second alternate: http://gallery.leica-users.org/HAWAII/07_01A_0005_web Beginning in 1980 lava flows engulfed Chain of Craters Road on the Big Island. Lava still flows about two miles further along the road from where this was taken. Here a Ranger sets off on foot for the active flow area. http://gallery.leica-users.org/HAWAII/08_06A_0138_web And an alternate: http://gallery.leica-users.org/HAWAII/08_07A_0139_web I'm still not sure which of these I like better. I like the appearance of the lava flow in the second more but I don't think the Ranger stands out sufficiently to make a good shot.
