Subject: [Leica] Home on leave

My son Erik is home on leave from the Navy. He has been at sea a vast
majority of the time since late February. Finally he was able to come
home while his submarine was in Norfolk in drydock.

At home he doesn't have to have proper military bearing and no Chief
or XO is going to suggest that he shave - so he hasn't. Moms, as it
turns out, don't count.

It's great to have him home.

Here are two portraits I shot tonight in the few moments he was here for 
dinner.

These were taken in the front yard about sunset. Canon 1Ds MKii and
the 70-200 f2.8L IS lens. I'd love the 70-180 leica but I haven't
robbed any banks lately nor has anyone sent me a zillion dollars.

These were converted from color using the nifty Convert To Black and
White Pro software.

thanks for looking - comments most welcome. I wish I had had more time
shooting them.
