As M user, a 40 present for me the inconvenient to be without framelines on the viewfinder, I've never tried a 40, but it seems me a good compromise between 50 and 35. I would add another point: we have discussed about the quality of the LUX PRE-ASPH 35 mm, on my case if I do a CLA could cost about 300 Euro (in Solms), and in my opinion the Nokton 40/1,4 is better than the old Lux, I don't know the performances on the f stop normal ranges (middle tones etc..), but I ask me seriously if it is not better expend about 400 $ on a Nokton than 300 Euro on a CLA, which are your opinions? Please look these comparisons between them: http://www.photo.net/photodb/folder?folder_id=455219 Saludos desde Barcelona Luis
