Subject: [Leica] The End of The "M"

Just to get our juices flowing this morning, here's a message that appeared
In the photo.net Leica discussion group this morning from Kipling Phillips:

I just talked to the manager of a large camera distributor here in Germany
and he told me that he's received information that the "M" camera line is to
be discontinued. I can't give any names or any proof but I thought some of
you might be interested anyway.

He says it's only a matter of a couple of months until the details of the
complete restructuring of the company will be announced and that the "M" is
no longer in the plans.

My Comments: He's either a sage or a troll...in any event, there's lots of
Used equipment out there for us to pick from, except the new 50 ASPH and 75
'Cron that just appeared on the market. Based upon all the rumors flying
about, no way would I invest in new anything from Leica just now; not even a
DM-R.
