They should have banked the extra profits.  I think this is the same time
( and same management team) that they decided that digital was a passing
fancy?

Or was this a response to the difference on the grey market, which they
could not control, and their grey market dealers were screwing the leica USA
subsidiary?

Bad management is just that... bad management.

Euro goes down, USA prices go up.  Euro goes up the USA prices go up.  The

Not really. Earlier (mid-late 90's) when the European currencies were
starting to lose value in relation to the US dollar, Leica prices
dropped. They've pretty much tracked the dollar value.
