If you intend to do decent digital repro work from paintings, or 
photograph any other static subjects, something like the Betterlight 
backs is the way to go. They start out less expensive than a Canon 
1ds Mk II, and they go well beyond what Valeo, Phase One or Sinar can 
produce with their 22mp backs.

18 to 140mp, with file sizes up to 1.7Gb.
