Wednesday was, literally, a wash-out with unseasonable heavy rains, but Thursday turned glorious. This ice-plant was close to our room: <http://www.adambridge.com/Photos/2005/05/19/_L3U2504.jpg> This little fellow gave us a fleeting shot - hand-holding the 560 telyt accounts for a bit of the lack of sharpness, I think. This is a goldfinch I think? <http://www.adambridge.com/Photos/2005/05/19/_L3U2536.jpg> Down hear a beach was a generous stand of ice-plant. I find the colors of its fleshy foliage to be fascinating - almost alien - like the plants from Mars in "War of the Worlds". <http://www.adambridge.com/Photos/2005/05/19/_L3U2565.jpg> Only an hour and a half from San Francisco, the beaches are vast, and cold. <http://www.adambridge.com/Photos/2005/05/19/_L3U2599.jpg> And only for the hardy . . . or maybe foolhardy... <http://www.adambridge.com/Photos/2005/05/19/_L3U2569.jpg> At the end of day I tried for something a bit artistic: <http://www.adambridge.com/Photos/2005/05/19/_L3U2625.jpg> If you'd like to read more about Point Reyes I can point you to the National Park Services site. It's a National Seashore, entry is free and worth every penny. I may have a few more shots later of the tule elk we found munching shoulder-high grass along a hillside. <http://www.nps.gov/pore/> If you should head that way I STRONGLY urge you to have dinner at the the Point Reyes Station House: a wonderful room, superb food at very reasonable prices, closed Wednesdays. We were there on an "off" day so we didn't have to wait. But trust me, a wait is worthwhile. Oh - techie stuff - shot with the 1Ds Mk II with either the 100 APO or the 280 or 560 Telyt except for the beach vista which was with the 24-70 f2.8L Canon and a polarizing filter. Comments of course are invited. Adam
