The more glass, the more you have to spend for German gear. I'm also guessing plastic parts and computerized glass making keeps the cost down on Nikon and Canon. I have the new 17-55/2.8 AF-S DX lens for Nikon. Sweet lens, but it already has dust on the inside, so much for quality control.
