my dad has a leica/leitz surveyor's level, which i'd bet a million 
dollars he doesn't know how to use.  it's almost new, and i'm sure he 
got a good deal on it as surveying was almost instantly transformed by 
lasers and GPS.  he's not a technical guy at all--a landscaper--and i 
can't really imagine what he thought he'd have done with a surveyor's 
level.
