I just got back the first C41 film I've had developed in a long time that didn't have minute scratches and dust on it. The only downside is that I had to put my precious negatives in the mail for a roundtrip. The scratches were not a real problem when I was doing conventional printing...they just didn't show up on the final print. But they sure do show up using my scanner. I sent them off to http://www.mpix.com/ for a cost of $5.95, which includes postage both ways. I'd rather have a reliable pro lab in town, but I'm not that fortunate. I mailed them last Thursday and got the negatives back in Wednesday's mail. I've been using Mpix to have prints made for a while, but this was the first time I've used them for developing. I realize that one time does not a pattern make, but I figured I'd share my elation in case somebody else was looking for an alternative to local stores, when the local stores suck. I don't shoot very much color film, but I'm excited at the possibility of my color film being as clean as my B&W that I do myself. -- Eric http://canid.com/
