It's easy to blame on others when things arent perfect at home...
Japan only made that they were forced to learn over the time, and it 
was a long term run first made by europeans, after that by the kurofune 
or black ships, and once again after the WWII, well, certainly we can't 
blame on them as far they learned the ropes and played with our rules.

There is no need, the only thing really needed is to know a bit of 
history.
