Bear in mind that the current 50/2.8 M lens was first
issued with the M6J. That limited production lens was
also styled externally to resemble a 1950s vintage
50/2.8.

I imagine that a LTM version with the new optics will
sell better (outside of the LUG) if it too is styled a
la 1950s, rather than as a LTM clone of the current
normal production M version.
