computer until Monday.
First, thank you to all who have pitched-in to help with this problem.
Seth - I cleaned contacts with alcohol - no difference
Talked with Ernst Hartmann - couldn't figure out without seeing
camera
Greg - I'll try leaving batteries out tonight
John - called Don Goldberg - he had me try several things, but to no avail.
feli - thanks for the list, it's bookmarked
Bob - I'm going to pick-up a can of Ronsonol on my way home from work
Vick - yes, self-timer seems to be connected to problem somehow
Doug- I'm not sure about removing the self-timer, but...
Just to give you all a little more information:
I removed the bottom plate and pushed around the levers I could easily see
and touch with a very small screwdriver. Twice I was able to return the
shutter button to "ready" and fire the camera. However, I cannot reproduce
this reliably. When the self-timer runs out, and I have to manually push it
the last quarter inch now, I hear a click that makes the shutter button
move, but it still seems as if something between the shutter and the timer
is simply "disconnected" The button is just floating as if it was between
halfway down and all the way down.
thanks again,
Roger
