Are you saying the "damaged"  files are not currently producing good output?
the SW today is different so the reproduction from "perfectly intact" files
is not good? or something else?

Here is a sample print from the Paleozoic digital age of when 2
megapixels was king.
That's less than a decade ago by the way.
