My F2 Photomic is still working like new after 30 years of use,
admittedly not in harsh environments, though it's been hauled around all
over the world.  I'm the original owner.  My new FM3A feels, and appears
to be, every bit as solid as the F2.

My M3 is still working like new, after more than 40 years of use,
through who knows how many owners and under what conditions.  It could
probably stand a CLA, and I'll get around to it when my budget allows,
but it still works, so......

My IIIf is still working like new.....  My recently acquired IIIc works
like a champ.

Further, the Leica and Nikon lenses I own and use are all, by most
current standards, old, and they just keep on working and producing
excellent photographs.  How many of us would be able to buy a 20 or 30
or 50 or 60 year old automobile, stick in the key and drive off, without
a hitch?

As others recently have pointed out, for available light, Leica is the
cat's pajamas.  For flash, the FM3A on auto with SB-20 produces
excellent results every time.

For me, the expense of Leicas and Nikons is justified by their quality,
and I measure that quality by their ability to produce excellent results
under a wide range of conditions.
