On my last couple of trips, aside from the odd opportunity to
photograph a friend in a dark restaurant, everywhere I was where I
could have used a flash, I was not permitted to use a flash. 
Churches, museums, and archaeological sites.  All forbid it.  It isn't
always this way, but often enough that I leave the flash home unless
its built into the camera.
