I know its no consolation, but my first M was an M2 and I never had a
problem removing VC lenses with an adaptor.

Hey Steve, I have your old M2 (love that camera, love that it came from
a LUG person in good standing) and the adaptor on my CV 25mm sticks to
the camera everytime I use it - it drives me nuts. Still beats paying
for the Leica 25mm but it really is a pain.
