The more the better, but seriously 11 Megapixels is enough for most mortals.

BUT! Repeat after me: 3+ lbs w/o a lens, 3+lbs w/o a lens, 3+lbs w/o a 
lens,... :-)

I can almost guarantee that after using one of those for a day, you will go 
back to just HOLD your Ms for a while to appreciate its size.
