Generally the early batches are suspect though there are some good cameras in there. Anything above 1 5xx xxx should be fine. I had a late M4-2 (153xxxx) and it was a great camera. I sold it to finance my first TTL. I subsequently bought an early one (148xxxx) partly to see what they were like. What a chump. I paid a good price because it had a fresh CLA from a distributor. I then paid a for a complete overhaul (more expensive than a CLA) at Kindermann and ended up selling it cheap with a warranty. OUCH!
