B.D., your argument would carry more weight if you'd quit repeating your 
distorted summaries of Leica's statements.  You've left out significant 
qualifying statements.  Leica said that *with the technology existing at 
that time* a digital RF camera couldn't be built to use exisiting lenses and 
*deliver the image quality that Leica users expect*.  They also said that as 
technology develops they would re-evaluate the feasibility of producing a 
digital camera that would use M lenses.  The fact that the R8, available for 
several years now and I presume under development for some time before that, 
was designed for a digital back, suggests that Leica's product development 
staff isn't as lame and shortsighted as you've claimed.  You're obviously 
not in 'journalist' mode.
