Subject: [Leica] Rangefinder focusing on the RD1

Hi Luggers,
I have tried to post this message to the LUG twice before but it hasn't
shown up in the digest so please forgive me if this is a duplicate.
I have been doing some research and the RD 1 with a physical
rangefinder base of 38.2mm and a rangefinder mag of 1.0 will have an
effective rangefinder base of 38.2mm. This compares with an effective
base of 40.165 on a Leica M 0.58 viewfinder and an effective viewfinder
base of 25.16mm on the Bessa and Bessa R2. I think it will be tough (at
least for me) to focus a 75 Summilux with consistent accuracy on the
RD1, but, of course, if the picture is out of focus on playback you may
have the option of shooting it again immediately. :-)\Cheers
Howard (Hong Kong)
