In Los Angeles County, CA, each household is allowed 150lbs. of hazardous
waste per year. That's a very comfortable margin for hobby use.
Everything from paint to any other item bought over the counter, and then
some, is allowed.
I would check with your local municipal waste management entities to see
what you allowances are.
