"The Digital M will according to Leicas technical manager be made with the same sensor size as the digital R and Herr Cohn mentioned that Kodak and Imacon will make the sensor, again the same manufactorer as the R. We were told yesterday that Leica will make a really wide angle lens specially for the digital M because all the focal lengths of existing lenses will become longer so to remedy the problem of very wide angle lenses becoming medium wide angle lenses it will be neccesary to make the extra wide angle lens. The digital M will have the frame system viewfinder the same as the analogue M but with the new focal length sizes to take account for the focal length exension. All of the present M lenses can be used with a digital M except maybe the 135 mm because that will become around a 180mm lens on the digital M.The release date will be 2006." http://www.leica-camera.com/cgi-bin/discus_e/show.pl?2/75420 -dan c.
