And there I was, thinking that "vit" is from the Latin "vitae", for "life", as in "curriculum vitae". If aquavit is the "water [drink] of life", (eau de vie), then Leicavit could mean "Leica is the camera of Life", double pun intended. I am out of here, if not taking photos, then mowing the lawn.
